Well... That's been the tone of this series thus far. Once again, the Thunder pulled out ANOTHER close game against the Mavs. But boy, does this series look far from over...
Perkins Playing Big
I just want to note that Perkins had 7 of OKC's first 9 points early in the 1st quarter. Who saw that coming? You probably have a better chance of winning the MegaMillions lottery than calling that statistic. Not only was his play in the field good, but he was a perfect 5 for 5 from the free throw line. Looks like somebody has been doing work in the gym.
Free Throws
Admittedly, the Thunder looked pretty sloppy. I contribute the win mostly to the astounding free throw shooting by the Thunder. They went 37-39 from the line, shooting 94.9%. Plus, James Harden was able to knock down 4 clutch free throws in the final minute of the game to keep the pressure on the Mavs.
KD
He hasn't been the Kevin Durant that we all know and love, but he is still doing big things. Even though he was only 5 for 17 from the field, he still had a double-double with 26 pts and 10 rbs. A big chunk of his scoring came from the line where he was 14 for 16. But hey... Don't lose faith in your scoring champ just yet. He is due to break out and have some huge games. It's only a matter of time before Durant hits his stride and starts taking control of games.
On the Road Again
The Thunder now have a two day break while they travel to Dallas for game 3 and 4. You have to think that the past couple losses have been disheartening for the Mavericks. But if they can take anything positive from the series thus far, it's that they have played OKC extremeley tough in their own arena. But still, the defending champs have a lot of work ahead of them if they are going to pull off an upset.
