Oh My Kevin
Ok KD...
Now as it stands, the Thunder somehow beat the Mavs in game 1 of the first round of the playoffs. What most people are quickly realizing is that this series is anything but comfortable for OKC. Scott Brooks must be hitting himself for not giving more effort in defeating the Nuggets a few days ago, which would have knocked Denver into the 7th spot for the Thunder to play in the first round.
But whether or not the win was ugly, sloppy, or just plain lucky, the Thunder are right where they need to be. Plus the Mavs have to be devistated since they played arguably the best they could, and still walked out of the Chesapeake arena with a big fat "L."
Rick Carlisle seems to be the complete opposite of intimidated. In his post game interview he ranted "We have to keep coming at these guys..." He seemed to give hardly any credit to the Thunder and blamed the collapse in the last couple minutes on poor play by his players. But all in all, is this loss demotivating at all for the Mavs? Let's hope so, because everybody knows that when Dallas is hot, they look like title contenders rather than a 7th seed cake walk.
Now back to Durant's game winner.. I was in disbelief. Right when the shot went up over Marion (who was playing the best D of his life) my heart sank because I could tell from the sloppy, one-hand release that it was off-line. But the Kevin Durant from the rafters in the playoff commercial must have guided that basketball off the side rim, off the backboard, and into the hoop to give the entire state of Oklahoma a sigh of relief. It left me speechless. Just.... Wow....
