Injuries Ruining Playoffs?

Now before we all pretend to be doctors, let's not jump to conclusions that the slew of injuries is a product of the 66-game schedule; we can't prove it either way. What we can prove is that no one wants to see a playoffs with Derrick Rose, Dwight Howard, Paul Pierce, Josh Smith, Ray Allen, Kendrick Perkins, Joakim Noah, Baron Davis, and Iman Shumpert all limited or sidelined with ailments. Injuries are a normal consequence of contact sports, but it doesn't make it any less deflating.

Any Less Glamorous for Thunder?
Now if the Thunder were to go all the way (knock on wood), would it be less of an accomplishment with all of the star-studded injuries? Some argue so. If you want my opinion, I say hell no. Injuries have been a part of the game since the existence of the sport. Part of winning an NBA championship is being able to keep players healthy. There's a reason trainers, nutritionists, strength coaches, physical therapists, and etc. are implemented in professional sports.

I guess my reason for this post is to quiet the critics who are down-playing the playoffs this year. Injuries are part of the game. There is still a lot of great basketball to be played.

Kendrick Perkins
The Thunder announced Sunday that Kendrick Perkins had an MRI that confirmed he had suffered a right hip muscle strain in game 4 against the Mavericks. He is listed as day to day and his return to play will be based on his progress and recovery in the coming days.

With the Thunder sweeping the Mavs, they will await the winner of the Nuggets-Lakers series. The Thunder will have a bout a week off garunteed, with potentially nine days of rest, which could be big in getting Perk healthy for the second round.
